Another MicroStock is closing. The thing is quite normal in itself. But the fact that LuckyOliver is closing is also a bit sad.

With a great and simple user interface and a communicative sense of humor, LuckyOliver  built one of the best community of photographers who are all flabbergasted by the shutdown of their favorite site.

But that's all LuckyOliver successfully achieved. The buyers never really came. Most portfolios were contributors tiny piece of desert in their microstock world. A nice and quiet place to relax where LuckyOliver's mirages, buyers or viewers, rarely came.

Nobody is sad because a microstock is shutting down. There are plenty of other microstock out there. I think most contributors are sad because a project conducted with talent, originality and obvious efforts does not finally meet the expected success.

The only thing I can say to the founders is that such talents and efforts are never wasted. Sooner or later, it will pay off. So whatever your future will be, keep up the very good work.

At last, Crestock launch its Affiliate program
Written by FotoNumerix

Since they have one of the nicest interface on the microstock market, many were wondering why Crestock did not have a referral program to encourage its members to promote crestock.com .

No reason to wonder any more, Crestock is officially introducing its Affiliate Program.

With a six month affiliation period , which is really short, I hope that Crestock will reconsider it and maybe improve it to a year or two.

The very good idea that Crestock had is that it pays a lot more to refer buyers than to refers contributors.  You literally earn 50% of your affiliate buyers expenses as with the contributors, you just earn the standard 10%. Well thought and well done Crestock !

So it's really a good time to explain to all your blogging friends that buying an original image or two for their website is really not an expensive behavior.  If you register a free account with Crestock, not only you and your friend can use the free images provided daily on the database but you can also buy any other images with the amounts earned with the referral program. With a small affiliation activity, you may easily end up  buying lots of images without even  spending a dime.

With this 50% commission for referring buyers, Crestock is making a fantastic move to attract even the small buyers. So check out the traffic on crestock.com in the next few months. I'm sure it will grow very rapidly and that the sales will explode.

The other very good thing wit their new Affiliate Program is that it is dead simple. Any page on crestock.com is a potential referral link as long as you append your Affiliate ID at the end of the URL.

For example, if you found this article useful, I appended my Affiliate ID, 53212, on the URL of an image from the database. If you have not yet registered, your welcome to either click on the following link or on the image to become my affiliate.

The Affiliate ID can be appended to any URL on crestock.com

Note that the Affiliate ID cannot be appended to the image URL. Here, the image is hot linked from http://www.crestock.com/images/630000-639999/639310-xs.jpg. It is not possible to fetch a thumbnail with an appended affiliate number at the end of the image's URL (e.g.:  http://www.crestock.com/images/630000-639999/639310-xs.jpg/53212/ ).

Yesterday, I posted the PixBurger Factsheet in which I wrote about the 18 months period during which you gain five and two percent on your first or second level affiliate's earnings. I also said that 24 months would have been more interesting.

I don't know if this comment has been read by the PixBurger team but they just announced today, that until coming May 31st all the new or already registered members will be granted and extra six months on the affiliation period bringing it to twenty-four months.

Like I wrote yesterday, during this first opening phase, PixBurger's Interface is  only in french but translations in english, german italian and spanish are developped for the second phase. So if you are not to familiar with french, try to use a web page translator so you can register as soo as you can and also spread the news to potential image buyers or artists and make the your affiliates for 24 months.

PixBurger - Register before May 31st
.
